Vanish Named 25th Fastest Growing Brewery in Nation
April 10, 2018
These brewing companies represent 5.5 percent of craft’s growth by volume for 2017 and include eight brewpubs, 40 microbreweries and two regional craft breweries.
“It’s so great to be recognized by the Brewers Association,” said Jonathan Staples, Owner of Vanish. “We were truly surprised to receive the announcement and we are proud to represent Loudoun County on this list. “
Vanish is one of only three business in Virginia that made the list, alongside Fair Winds Brewing Co. in Lorton and Big Lick Brewing Co. in Roanoke.
Staples said in the two years Vanish has been open, it has grown to 62 employees.“This year we are adding more production capacity and a barrel ageing facility on our farm,” Staples said. “One of the things that is significant for us is that over 90% of our beer sales is consumed onsite in our farm tasting room instead of through distribution. Our success has been driven by the creativity and innovation of Larry Pomerantz, our head brewer.”
“With 5 percent growth overall for small and independent brewers in 2017—and microbreweries and brewpubs delivering the majority of that—we wanted to spotlight some of the breweries driving that growth,” said Bart Watson, chief economist of the Brewers Association. “As the growth base for craft becomes more diffuse, these fast-growing brewing companies illustrate that a diverse set of success stories still exist.”
The Brewers Association’s list includes only small and independent breweries with all of their production at their own facilities. Breweries had to have opened earlier than the end of 2015 earlier to be considered. It only includes breweries that reported to the Brewers Association’s annual Beer Industry Production Survey.
Vanish is located on the 61-acre Black Hops Farm, which features a five-acre hops field and a regional hops processing facility, Virginia’s first dedicated malting operation.
The brewery is open seven days a week with two tap rooms, three indoor bars and one outdoor bar and over 30 taps. Vanish also hosts live music every Saturday and Sunday, along with weekly events like yoga, trivia, line dancing, paint night and karaoke and food trucks on weekends.
