RICHMOND, VA. – On April 25, 2019, the Virginia Green program will recognize Coelacanth Brewing as the Virginia Green Brewery of the Year for outstanding efforts to protect the environment and support green tourism in Virginia.
The award will be presented at the Virginia Green Travel Conference & Travel Star Awards Luncheon that will take place at the culmination of the 6th annual Virginia Green Travel Conference at the Hotel Madison & Shenandoah Valley Conference Center Center.
The luncheon will be hosted by the First Lady of Virginia Pam Northam and Rita McClenny, CEO of Virginia Tourism Corporation.
Coelacanth Brewing is receiving this honor for its outstanding efforts and commitment to environmental excellence. Coelacanth also received the Virginia Green Travel Leader Award in 2016 & 2017.
“We are incredibly proud to recognize Coelacanth Brewing as the Virginia Green Brewery of the Year,” says Tom Griffin, the Executive Director of the Virginia Green Travel Alliance. “The growth of the Virginia Green program statewide has been remarkable, and our awards program is a celebration of that progress. Virginia Green Travel partners are truly leading our program’s efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of the industry and to increase green tourism business in Virginia.”

The Virginia Green program is run through a partnership between the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, the Virginia Tourism Corporation, the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association, and the Virginia Green Travel Alliance. The program encourages green practices in all sectors of Virginia’s tourism industry. More than 1,800 businesses and partner organizations have voluntarily certified their green commitments through the Virginia Green program.
